We specialise in providing commercial legal services to business because that is what we do best. We believe that it is not possible to be all things to all clients, and that our skills are best utilised for adding value through our core services of Corporate Advisory, Business Transactions and Advice, and Dispute Resolution and Risk Management.
DMAW Lawyers is always looking for outstanding candidates to join our existing team, and who genuinely embrace our service and professional standards and are excited by what we stand for.
Whilst providing outstanding client service all team members are supported by a productive, respectful and positive team culture. This means creating every opportunity for our staff to be happy and motivated.
Our culture is highly professional, where technical ability is prized, and the right attitude is essential.
We appreciate the need to celebrate success and reward staff for their achievements. We encourage positive social interaction.
The Social Club is active in organising events throughout the year, with the mid-year and end of year functions being amongst the most popular, and Friday evening drinks for those who can make it. The firm also holds a bi-annual weekend retreat to encourage our lawyers to be involved in developing the strategic direction of the firm, as well as providing a great opportunity to associate on a social level with all team members, across all work groups.
Our Charity Committee develops and oversees the charitable activities of the firm. All staff are encouraged to engage with, and participate in, those initiatives.
We believe we have developed a fantastic and enjoyable working environment.
DMAW Lawyers recognises that it is essential that lawyers of all levels of experience refresh their knowledge, and familiarise themselves with new developments in the law. We operate a challenging internal Continuing Legal Education programme, recognised as the best in South Australia, which involves practitioners preparing and presenting papers on legal developments.
The firm also encourages practitioners to attend external training seminars and conferences, both locally and nationally. In particular, our lawyers frequently attend and present seminars at the Law Society, The Taxation Institute of Australia, Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association, and the Franchise Council of Australia.

DMAW Lawyers mentor and develop the young professionals who join the firm and challenge them to grow professionally ahead of their years. Youthful sharpness and energy is tempered by the accumulated experience and wisdom of the experienced Principals.
Graduate lawyers are assigned to a team, supervised by a Principal, and work closely with other team members including fellow graduates, other lawyers, Associates, Senior Associates and Principals.
Whilst most of the work will emanate from the assigned team, there are many opportunities to work across other teams as well.
Graduates can expect to be dealing directly with clients under the supervision and direction of a Principal from the outset. Every endeavour is made to include graduates in all aspects of the client instruction from inception to completion.
We work closely with all graduates to develop their skills, guide and mentor them, and help them navigate the early stages of their career. The supervising Principal will be particularly active in this role.
We offer a Clerkship programme for final and penultimate law students to gain hands on, paid experience over periods in November/December, January/February and July (in the following calendar year). Clerkships are for a 4 weeks in duration and involve a range of genuine work and activity on real client instructions.
Two senior Lawyers, usually Senior Associates from different practice teams, are assigned to supervise and mentor each clerk. They ensure clerks have plenty of work, which can come from all practice areas in the firm. Clerks have the opportunity to source work from practice areas they are interested in.
