Clerkship Programme

Two senior Lawyers, usually Senior Associates, from different practice teams are assigned to supervise and mentor each clerk. They ensure clerks have plenty of work which can come from all practice areas in the firm. Clerks have the opportunity to source work from practice areas they are interested in.

Clerks are involved in drafting documents, undertaking research, attending client meetings and attending court.

Clerks also have the opportunity to attend our professional continuing education programme and join in with the firms social and charity activities.

At the end of every placement an exit interview will take place where feedback is provided. Clerks are given the opportunity to rate the firm and provide suggestions on how we can improve the programme. We are not afraid to listen, adapt and improve.

2020 Clerkship application dates will be released very soon

Life at DMAW Lawyers is professional and friendly. My initial experience with DMAW Lawyers was as a Summer Clerk in December 2009.  I subsequently accepted a permanent position as a Graduate Lawyer in February 2010 and now currently work in the Dispute Resolution and Risk Management team.  Working at DMAW Lawyers has enabled me to develop the practical legal skills that I learnt at University.  I have been afforded the opportunity to undertake a variety of tasks in respect of a diverse range of files, and have been exposed to complex and interesting litigation right from the start.  Experienced practitioners are always available to offer guidance and support, and the team-based working environment which characterises DMAW Lawyers makes the firm a friendly and relaxed place to work.
