DMAW Lawyers participates in Australasia's first single law office lawyer exchange program with Meritas
At DMAW Lawyers we understand that travelling and working in a different jurisdiction and office can be an exciting career opportunity for a junior lawyer. This is why we chose be involved in Australasia's first single law office lawyer exchange program, as part of the Meritas network.
The initiative is designed to give early career lawyers the experience of working with a different team, in a different environment without directly undertaking billable work for the firm. The two-week exchange provides the opportunity to deepen relationships between firms and exchange best practice on everything from matter management to training.
As part of this program we had the pleasure of hosting Bennett & Philp lawyer Ezekiel Ting (Zeke for short). Zeke traded places with DMAW Lawyers' associate Jessica Punch, who had the great experience of being hosted by Bennett & Philp at their Brisbane office.
Zeke spent the fortnight working alongside our transactions team, during which he found time to give an insightful and entertaining presentation at our monthly CPD session on "Superannuation in Bankruptcy".
When discussing the success of the program, DMAW Lawyers' principal Tom Dachs said “It helps our network firms learn from one another and it also builds closer ties between the firms... it has been such a success in motivating our lawyers that we will likely have an exchange every year."
We thank Meritas for developing such a worthwhile program and look forward to being involved in years to come.
