International Women's Day 2024 - "Count her in: Invest in women. Accelerate Progress."

This year for International Women's Day, DMAW Lawyers has chosen to align with the United Nations (UN) Women's theme "Count her in: Invest in women. Accelerate Progress".

Based on the priority theme for the United Nations 68^th Commission on the Status of Women, Count Her In examines pathways to greater economic inclusion for women and girls everywhere. While important progress has been made, women face significant obstacles to achieving equal participation in the economy.

As a firm, we prioritise counting our women in by providing equal opportunities for career advancement, education and flexible working arrangements. In particular, developing strong financial literacy is one way we invest in our women, including providing educational sessions on superannuation and financial literacy.

In celebration of International Women's Day our team attended a raft of different events including the Jodi Lee Foundation International Women's Day Luncheon, The Property Council of Australia's International Women's Day 'Longest Lunch', ARITA’s SA/NT Forum: International Women’s Day Event and UN Women Australia's Adelaide International Women's Day Breakfast - hosted by Senator Penny Wong with special guest Annabel Crabb who gave an excellent address reflecting on the theme and drawing observations from her long career as a Australian political journalist, commentator and television host.
