Mental Health Awareness Month 2024 - Charity Committee
For Mental Health Awareness Month 2024, our Charity Committee organised a series of events aimed at encouraging staff to incorporate actions into their daily routines that promote positive mental health and remind us to check in on one another.
Co-working space week
During co-working space week, staff were encouraged to shake things up by taking a break from their usual seating arrangements for a few hours. Some groups sat together in our boardroom overlooking the Adelaide CBD, others took advantage of some beautiful weather on our level 12 rooftop terrace.
Peer-to-peer shout out day
Positive feedback and recognition can brighten someone's day. It also fosters deeper connections among team mates, creating a supportive community for employees. While any day is a great opportunity to give a shout-out, on peer-to-peer shout-out day, we encouraged staff to share sincere and thoughtful acknowledgments for their peers.
Movember morning tea
DMAW Lawyers had the pleasure of welcoming Tom Bergin, Workplace Fundraising Executive from Movember.
Tom joined us remotely at our morning tea, to speak about the invaluable work Movember are doing to change the face of men's health.
Tom enlightened the group about the work Movember do, taking on mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer, helping men to live happier, healthier and longer lives. Tom also shared ways people can get involved to raise funds, including:
- Grow a Mo
- Patchy, lopsided, itchy or epic – whatever Mo you grow this Movember, your face will raise funds and awareness for men’s health.
- Move for Movember
- Commit to running or walking 60km over the month, at your own pace. That’s 60km for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world.
- Host a Mo-ment
- Rally a crew and do something fun and easy. Hosting is all about having a good time for a good cause.
- Mo your own way
- Create your own challenge – it can be anything. A gruelling test of physical endurance or something else entirely.
DMAW Lawyers would like to thank Tom for taking the time out of his day to speak to us and for helping us understand more about the important work Movember are doing.
DMAW Lawyers has chosen to participate in fundraising for Movember and have already raised over $700, only 5 days into November - well done team!
