NAIDOC Week 2022
As NAIDOC week comes to a close, we reflect on the importance of this year’s theme “Get up, show up, stand up!”, we take the time to acknowledge the Kaurna people, the Traditional Owners of the land we work on, and recognise their ongoing connection to Country. We are committed to embracing actions that heal Country both locally and nationally, as well as deepening our respect and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, values and cultures.
As part of our commitment, we are proud to have launched our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan in September 2020, marking the beginning of our long-term contribution to engaging in and promoting reconciliation.
Further developments to our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan for 2022 and beyond are currently under way including cultural learning and development workshops which are planned to commence later this year.
To celebrate NAIDOC Week some representatives of our Reconciliation Working Group attended the NAIDOC week Family Fun Day held at Tarntanyangga/Victoria Square this afternoon.
It was a lovely afternoon celebrating culture, food and coming together. There were many stalls on offer from both Government and Non-Government organisations, including support services and resources targeted at men, women, Elders, education and small business. There were also fun activities on offer for the kids and a concert for all – thank you to Bec Gollan for performing some beautiful tunes!
