NAIDOC Week 2023
With NAIDOC Week coming to a close, DMAW Lawyers respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians whose ancestral lands on which we work. Reflecting on this year's theme "For our Elders", we pay our respects to ancestors and Elders past, present and future, and we acknowledge their ongoing cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship to Country.
At DMAW Lawyers, we strive to embrace actions that heal Country both locally and nationally, as well as deepening our respect and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, values and cultures and as such, we continue to celebrate NAIDOC Week each year.
This year we celebrated NAIDOC Week by organising a morning tea for staff, at which we watched a short video educating ourselves on the upcoming referendum and enjoyed some sweet treats, including donuts from Vili's Family Bakery, purchased through the Tjindu Foundation Reconciliation Week & NAIDOC Week Donut Fundraiser, with 50 cents from the sale of each donut going to the Tjindu Foundation.
Members of our team also attended the Family Fun Day celebrations at Tarntanyangga with over 40 stall holders, activities, food and a free concert.
What is the Tjindu Foundation?
The Tjindu Foundation creates positive, long-term change for Aboriginal children in communities across South Australia through cultural education and success in schooling that enables them to become future leaders.
