National Reconciliation Week 2026: Warren Rankine in Conversation with Michelle Prak

In recognition of National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2026, Bernice Witkowski, Irini Kourakis and Stephanie Dugan attended Warren Rankine In Conversation with Michelle Prak, on behalf of DMAW Lawyers.

At this Reconciliation Week event, Ngarrindjeri descendant Warren Rankine discussed his powerful memoir Fifteen Feet Tall, a moving account of trauma, resilience, culture, and hope in South Australia. Warren also spoke about the sensitivity around reconnecting with his heritage, reflecting on the lasting impact of losing his cultural identity at a young age and the complexities of rebuilding that connection later in life.

Thank you to the City of Charles Sturt in conjunction with Reconciliation Australia for hosting this important and enjoyable event.

National Reconciliation Week 2026

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Reconcilaition Australia's theme for NRW 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. All In makes it clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

This is an important time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to reflect on how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in meaningful ways.
