DMAW Lawyers' Charity Committee - Catherine House morning tea
Last week, DMAW Lawyers’ Charity Committee hosted a morning tea fundraiser in support of our chosen Workplace Giving Program charity Catherine House. We were joined by Rebecca Millard, Strategic Partnership Specialist, who spoke about the vital work the organisation is doing in our community.
Catherine House is the only dedicated women’s homelessness service in South Australia. They offer crisis, longer term accommodation and support services for women over the age of 18, unaccompanied by children, for up to 60 women each night. In addition to crisis accommodation, Catherine House also runs mental health programs, a women’s centre and a Waitlist Support Worker service, providing outreach support aimed at minimising personal hardship from current experiences of homelessness. Many of the women supported by Catherine House are also escaping domestic violence situations.
By offering a safe and supportive environment, Catherine House helps address the immediate impacts of homelessness while empowering women to rebuild confidence, strengthen their wellbeing and work towards secure, long-term housing and lead purposeful lives.
Thank you to Rebecca for joining us at our offices. We are proud to support Catherine House and the morning tea was a valuable opportunity to learn more about their important work and how we can support women experiencing homelessness in our community.
