KickStart for Kids morning tea - Charity Committee

This week, DMAW Lawyers proudly welcomed South Australian children's charity, KickStart for Kids, to speak about the important work they are doing with their breakfast and lunch program for underprivileged children.

Founder, Ian Steel, and northern schools volunteer coordinator, Beth Peartree, joined us for morning tea and shared some eye-opening stories about the amount of South Australian children facing starvation, neglect and abuse, which children KickStart for Kids help through their breakfast and lunch program, providing food to help fuel them for their day at school. Ian also spoke about their period poverty program which provides access for young women to period products which they may otherwise be unable to afford and would go without.

DMAW Lawyers would like to thank Ian and Beth for taking the time to come and speak to us about KickStart for Kids and the incredible work they are doing to change the lives of underprivileged children in South Australia.

KickStart for Kids is a South Australian children's charity, founded in 2011 on the belief that every child, regardless of their social or economic background, should have an equal chance to succeed. KickStart for Kids has strategically implemented programs such as school breakfast and lunch programs, mentoring programs, and providing basic clothing and healthcare support in South Australian schools.

Today, KickStart for Kids supports over 360 South Australian Schools, provides around 60,000 breakfasts and 10,000 lunches per week, and is supported by over 1000 volunteers.
