Mandatory vaccinations for taxi and Uber drivers and public transport workers

On 22 November 2021, the Emergency Management (Passenger Transport Vaccination) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 came into effect, requiring all drivers of passenger transport vehicles to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Drivers of taxis, rideshare vehicles (such as Uber) and chauffeured vehicles must have received their first dose by 25 November if they transport people to and from South Australian airports, or by 20 December for non-airport routes.

Drivers of public transport vehicles (such as buses and trains) are required to have received their first dose by 12 December if they transport people to and from South Australian airports, or by 20 December for other routes.

Anyone else who has contact with passengers or drivers in the course of their work, such as security guards, ticket inspectors, depot workers and conductors, will not be able to work after 20 December unless they have received their first dose by that date.

Medical exemptions may be obtained in limited circumstances.
