DMAW Laywers attend 2025 Meritas ANZ Regional Meeting

On behalf of DMAW Lawyers, Daniel Jenkinson, Tom Dachs, Callum Ritchie, and Abby-Rose Hill recently attended the 2025 Meritas ANZ Regional Meeting, hosted by Bennett & Philp Lawyers in Brisbane.

As the exclusive Meritas member for South Australia, we take pride in representing our state at this annual gathering. The Meritas ANZ Regional Meeting continues to be a great way to strengthen connections with our Meritas ANZ partner firms, address key industry challenges, share best practices in management, and explore ways for Meritas ANZ firms to continue supporting one another while enhancing value for our clients.

The three-day conference held at the W Hotel and the Bennett & Philip offices in Brisbane brought together attendees from across the Meritas ANZ network for an engaging program of collaboration, insight and connection. The program featured expert sessions on the topics of leadership, collaboration, knowledge-sharing and the future of law. The Regional Meeting kicked off with a welcome event hosted at Tattersalls Club in Brisbane on Wednesday evening, followed by expert sessions on Thursday and Friday.

Some highlights from the expert sessions were:

  • Leadership and expert speaker sessions, including discussions on leadership, the future of legal firms, and the impact of GenAI
  • Sessions focused on best practices, business referrals, and client services
  • Assoc. Prof. Tom Stevenson on leadership lessons from ancient Rome
  • Dr. Neil Oakes (FMRC) on the future of small and mid-sized firms
  • Prof. Nick Abrahams on the real-world impact of GenAI in legal practice
  • A Q&A with Luca Citton, Meritas Chair, who travelled from Vancouver, Canada to address the group on Friday and share his global perspective on the future of the Meritas network and the legal profession more broadly

To celebrate the conclusion of the conference, attendees were encouraged to join a guided tour of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) led by Quandamooka woman Elisha Kissick, followed by lunch at Straddie Brewing Co.

DMAW Lawyers would like to thank Bennett & Philp Lawyers for their generosity and Meritas and Sue-Ella Prodonovich for putting together another engaging and enjoyable annual meeting.
